I have this powered hub works great for me. Some devices just don't work unless plugged directly into the Mac. You could drive a car over it.ĮDIT: Forgot to say. It was a nightmare.Īlso it's made of metal and built like a tank.

I tried FOUR before I found one that worked reliably without devices disappearing. USB3 is notoriously flaky and it's VERY fussy about USB hubs. I've had USB hell with the trashcan Mac Pro. Is there such a thing as a USB hub with 4 USB ports to a thunderbolt? Any other solution?

I purchased one of the USB splitters, however, the power they supply isn't enough to power the bus powered items like the superdrive CD recorder. But I think its just wiser to get to Sierra as being the best OS for these older MacBook Pro’s which have SATA drives and APFS has issues with SATA (HDD or SSD) If you still have the Lion OS installer there is a way to install it by back dating your system so the certificate check passes. Apple is no longer maintaining the older OS certificates so you are doomed trying to re-install Lion from the recovery partition. How to create a bootable macOS Sierra installer driveĪpple messed up on the OS installer images certificates so your old image may not work! If you've got an old macOS install image, it will probably stop working today Thats when messed you up with the Lion install. So you’ll need to either download and setup a bootable Sierra OS installer or using Disk Utility wipe your drive down and setup with GUID - APFS Also make sure you delete all of the volumes on your drive. It sounds like your system requires Sierra (HFS+) Vs High Sierra (APFS) volume to install.
